Ducted Air Conditioning
Ducted Air Con Installations
Advanced Climate Solutions provides ducted air conditioning installation, servicing, maintenance, and repairs across Brisbane, Logan, the Redlands, and surrounding areas. A ducted air conditioning system uses one central unit and a network of ducts to cool or heat multiple rooms throughout a home or commercial property. With over 80 years of combined industry experience, our team delivers practical ducted air conditioning solutions for both residential and commercial spaces, with a focus on comfort, efficiency, and long-term performance.
Whether you are planning a new ducted air conditioning installation, upgrading an older system, or looking for ongoing maintenance and repairs, we can help you choose a solution that suits the property, the layout, and the way the space is used.
Zone Control
Most modern ducted air conditioning systems come with a zone control feature. This feature allows you to cool and heat different zones of your house to different temperatures as needed. Zoning also increases the energy efficiency of the system as you are only cooling the areas of your house that are in use rather than using energy to cool an entire home while only one room is in use.
In a zone controlled ducted air conditioning system, air regulators are used to control the air that is circulated into each zone. This means that when a zone is turned off, the air regulators in that room or area close, ensuring that the cooled air is not circulated into that zone.

What is Ducted Air Conditioning?
Ducted air conditioning is an air conditioning system that can be used to cool an entire home or office. Ducted air conditioners are made up of an indoor unit and an outdoor unit. The indoor unit is generally housed in the roof, with the outdoor unit containing the noisier components located outside. Most ducted air conditioning systems are made up of the same five main components including a fan, refrigerant, compressor, heat exchanger and ducts.
As the name suggests, a ducted air conditioning system pumps air through a system of pipes, also known as ducts. The ducts of a ducted air conditioning system are usually silver to better reflect heat, with a steel coil inside for added strength. The reflective colour of the ducts as well as insulating, reduces heat loss and increases the energy efficiency of the system.

How Does it Work?
First, hot air is drawn into the system by the fan through the return air grills. Next, the air travels over the cool refrigerant which absorbs the heat from the air. The cool air is then circulated back into the room through diffusers (installed in the ceiling or walls) that act as vents from the system into each room. Each diffuser houses an air filter that helps to purify the cool air as it is pumped into each room.
As new air is then drawn in through the return air grills and circulated through the air conditioning system to repeat the process, the now warm refrigerant evaporates into a hot gas which is circulated into the compressor. The compressor compresses the hot gas making it high pressure. The high pressure, hot gas is then pumped into a heat exchanger. Once inside the heat exchanger, the heat from the gas is transferred from the gas to the air, allowing the refrigerant to cool and return to its liquid form.
Once cooled, the refrigerant is pumped into an expansion device which lowers the pressure and further cools the liquid. When the refrigerant reaches its original temperature, the entire process is repeated. (A reverse cycle ducted system reverses this process to heat air.)
To ensure that the air is cooled or heated to the desired temperature, each zone has a sensor (larger zones may require multiple sensors) to monitor the temperature of the room and adjust the temperature of the circulated air accordingly.
The control panel for a ducted air conditioning system is usually hard wired or wall mounted in a central position allowing temperature control for the whole house from one place. Additionally, some ducted air conditioning systems are wifi controlled allowing you to control the system from your tablet or smartphone.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is ducted air conditioning?
Ducted air conditioning is a system that uses an indoor unit, usually hidden in the ceiling, an outdoor unit located outside the property, and a network of ducts to cool or heat multiple rooms. Air is delivered through discreet vents, allowing you to control comfort across a home or commercial space from one central system.
Is ducted air conditioning a good option for my home?
Ducted air conditioning can be a great option for homes where you want to cool or heat multiple rooms, maintain a more consistent temperature, and keep the look of the home clean and uncluttered. It is often well suited to larger homes and households that want whole-home comfort.
Is ducted air conditioning suitable for offices and commercial spaces?
Yes. Ducted air conditioning is a strong option for offices and commercial properties because it can provide even temperature control across multiple rooms or work areas, with quieter operation and the ability to manage zones separately.
What is zoning in a ducted air conditioning system?
Zoning allows different areas of the property to be cooled or heated independently. This means you can run air conditioning only in the rooms being used, which can improve comfort and help reduce energy use.
Can a ducted system both cool and heat?
Yes. Reverse cycle ducted air conditioning can provide both cooling in summer and heating in winter, making it a practical year-round solution.
How long does ducted air conditioning installation take?
Installation time depends on the size of the property, the layout, ceiling access, and the complexity of the job. After assessing your property, we can give you a clearer idea of the installation timeframe.
Do you install, service, and repair ducted air conditioning?
Yes. Advanced Climate Solutions provides ducted air conditioning installation, servicing, maintenance, and repairs for both residential and commercial properties.
What are the benefits of ducted air conditioning compared with split systems?
Ducted air conditioning is often a better option when you want to cool or heat more than three rooms, maintain a cleaner look with fewer visible units, and have central control over the whole property. Split systems can be more suitable for single rooms or smaller areas.
Do you provide free quotes for ducted air conditioning?
Yes. If you are considering ducted air conditioning for your home or business, Advanced Climate Solutions can provide practical advice and a free quote based on your property and needs.
